Defense, on jurisdictional grounds, of the Mercedarian friar, Jacinto Miranda, accused of murdering Gregorio Corte, Provincial, and wounding Father José Alcalá; drawn up by Ubaldo Indalecio Bernal y Malo and Manuel Domingo Chavero, attorneys of the Real Audiencia; presented by the Order to Archbishop Núñez de Haro y Peralta. Substantially identical with two items of "Disturbios de Frailes," M-M 85, Nos. 2 and 12; a printed version of this plea, Alegato año de 1792 (Oaxaca, 1844) gives the date as December 14, 1792.
